Born on February 28, 1989, in Ventura, California, and raised in an artistic family, my journey was deeply influenced by being named after the iconic comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes." This unique connection fueled my passion, guiding me towards a career as a comic artist. I successfully earned my BA in Art with a focus on Art History in 2011. In 2010, I took a significant step in my creative journey by self-publishing "Ricky the Fangirl Killer," a comic that marked the beginning of my artistic endeavors. Currently, I am immersed in crafting the Joe Hero comic series, driven by a genuine desire to create comics that captivate and entertain.
Beyond my artistic pursuits, an intriguing facet of my identity is being on the autism spectrum, specifically with high-functioning autism. Despite navigating with limited resources and the support of structures like the 504 plan, I aim to be self-sufficient. The narrative woven into the Joe Hero series blends my personal experiences and upbringing with a superhero twist.
I had the privilege of serving as an artist assistant to the renowned comic artist Howard Chaykin. My contributions to his works, spanning from the last five issues of Satellite Sam to The Shadow: Midnight in Moscow and various others since 2022, have earned me recognition. Illustration and the world of comics have been instrumental in shaping who I am today. Driven by an unwavering determination, I am committed to creating comics that bring joy to others.
I have known Cathi for almost as long as I've worked at Costco—nearly 34 years. I have had the privilege of witnessing her beautiful family grow over the years, and I am thrilled with the amazing individuals her children have become.
During my tenure at Costco, I spent ten years dedicated to working the cash vault, where I handled closing out the day and prepared bank deposits. Currently, I am cross-trained in four departments, showcasing my ability to cover diverse areas of the business.
In my free time, I enjoy walking on various beaches and exploring local parks. Additionally, I have a passion for movies and appreciate the collaborative efforts it takes to create them. Recently, I enrolled in a film class through Ventura College, where I wrote a ten-page screenplay from an original idea. This experience has inspired me to continue writing, challenging my creativity, and pushing myself to accomplish more in the future.
